So unfair pocket money gap leaves girls with 5% less than boys.

According to a pocket money study, the gender pay gap goes all the way down the age scale to girls as young as eight. The study based on annual pocket money included payment for chores.  It was found that girls of eight get around £265 a year £5.10 a week which adds up to £14 less than boys.

This disparity goes all the way through to those aged 15. The biggest pocket money gap between girls and boys is at age 11 with girls getting £371 a year compared with £404 for boys.

The study was based on 75,000 youngsters aged six to 18.  It was combined with evidence which was collected by experts at University College London’s Consumer Data Research Centre.
