Musical campaign to celebrate 50th anniversary of Freshney Place Shopping Centre
As part of its 50th anniversary celebrations Freshney Place Shopping Centre will be hosting a summer of music that will put a spring into its customer’s steps.
Each Saturday from 6 July until (and including) 31 August, 11-3pm regional artists will take to Friargate Mall either near House Of Fraser or BB’s, to entertain the shoppers and create a foot tapping atmosphere!
The vocalists, many of whom are well recognised artists in the region, will perform a range of family favourites including covers from the world of pop and rock as well as soul and Motown classics.
The campaign is one of several initiatives throughout the year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Freshney Place including the Community Hub, which opened earlier in the year to provide a fully furnished space in a central location for community organisations and charities to use free of charge.
Amanda Austin, centre director said: “We’ve had artists play in the mall on occasions in the past and we’ve received such great feedback that we felt a musical campaign to Kick off our 50th anniversary celebrations would go down really well.
“We want to give something back to the local community who has supported us throughout the years. We’ve sourced some of the region’s finest artists to join us and we really hope everyone will enjoy listening to them!”
