A holidaymaker has been prosecuted by North East Lincolnshire Council for fly-tipping at a bring-to recycling site at the Humberston Fitties.
Barry Taylor, 66, of Burton Road, Barnsley, admitted two offences of fly-tipping on the 12 and 13 January 2019.
Taylor, who has a holiday home on the Fitties, fly tipped building waste on four occasions over the two days.
CCTV showed Taylor illegally dumping the waste from his car on the ground at the front, side and rear of the recycling bins.
He was fined £650, ordered to pay court costs of £75 and a victim surcharge of £65 at Grimsby Magistrates’ Court today, Friday 5 July.
Cllr Ron Shepherd, portfolio holder for safer and stronger communities, said: “There’s no excuse for fly-tipping. It blights the local area and is a drain on the taxpayer.
“We won’t tolerate fly-tipping on our land and we gather evidence to prosecute criminals who dump waste illegally.
“The recycling bins have warning notices clearly displayed indicating no fly-tipping of any waste items and instruction on what to do if the bins are full.
“If a bring-to site is full, do not just throw your rubbish outside it onto the ground as crews have to be diverted from whatever else they are doing to come and clear it.
“Instead, take your waste to one of the community recycling centres in Estuary Way, Grimsby, or Queens Road, Immingham.”
