What a wonderful couple of days Armed Forces Weekend was, with perfect weather, the organisers of the military event were delighted with the outcome. It is brought approx 100,000 people to our town and helped many local businesses.
On Tuesday the Armed Forces team will be back at work planning for next year. There will also be a major event in May next year to mark VE day organised by The Armed Forces Team who all work voluntarily it may include a military tattoo.
Alex Baxter the Armed Forces Champion said he was impressed by the response from the public to the fireworks display. Owner of Jonny Donuts and Olivers had provided four portaloos but they were not sufficient for demand, and they had received a lot of abuse. He believes that if they want to improve things for next year the organisers need to improve the toilet situation for next year.
Some visitors had asked what the dates are for next Summer’s event in order to book rooms for next year.
