Homeowners have been warned to keep a lookout as thieves target barbies and expensive outdoor furniture.
During the warm heatwave, there has been an alarming rise in thefts from gardens. Last year the number of incidents reported was 595,000 which was up from 483,000 in 2017.
Items believed to be stolen include everything from packages delivered by delivery drivers to garden gnomes, posh barbies, and expensive garden furniture homeowners are being warned by experts to check to see if their insurance will cover their garden gear if your garden gets targeted by thieves.
The crime statistics also showed that home burglaries had fallen by 2% in the same period from 685,000 to 669,000.
