Motorcyclist nearly killed himself and passenger in horror crash after drink driving.
A motorcyclist who had been drink driving and his pillion passenger were lucky to be alive Grimsby magistrates heard. The motorcyclist and his passenger were catapulted in the air in a horrific accident.
His riding was atrocious and shocked witnesses looked on as he was hurled across the road. Ritvars Drieks 24 from Cleethorpes, admitted drink driving, careless driving and having no insurance on September 9th.
A witness spotted him driving at around 50mph with a pillion passenger at around 11 am on Durban Road Grimsby, towards Fiveways roundabout the bike appeared to be travelling on its side with Drieks losing control. Drieks landed head first and the passenger hit a post.
A blood test reading revealed that Drieks had 144mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood. The legal limit is 80mg.
Drieks appeared at Grimsby Magistrates court and was fined £750 was banned from driving for 22 months and was ordered to pay £85 costs and a Government-imposed £30 victims surcharge.
