Armed Forces Day Flag raising – Monday 24 June

The Armed Forces Day Flag will once again be raised in North East Lincolnshire at a public ceremony on 11am Monday 24 June to mark the start of the celebration of our armed forces communities.

The Armed Forces Day celebrations in North East Lincolnshire will be over the weekend of 28 to 30 June in Cleethorpes.

Alex Baxter, Deputy Lord Lieutenant for Lincolnshire and MD of the Armed Forces Major Events Team will lead the proceedings in Cleethorpes at Memorial Gate on Alexandra Road along with The Worshipful the Mayor of the Borough of North East Lincolnshire, Cllr Terry Walker.

Cllr Walker said: “I am extremely proud to be representing the borough in this year’s flag flying ceremony. I hope people from North East Lincolnshire will take the time to join us for the ceremony and pay tribute to all our Armed Forces and their families past and present, particularly in this, the 75th anniversary of D-Day.”

Alex Baxter added: “Our Armed Forces Day celebrations form one of the largest free events on the east coast. We have a great weekend of displays and entertainment lined up this year, alongside the usual fabulous parade and trade.”
