Interested in local history and have a bit of time to spare?
As part of the Mayflower 400 commemorations, North East Lincolnshire Council is looking for people to become Heritage Ambassador volunteers who can act as guides in Immingham to support a variety of events and activities throughout 2020.
The Council is looking for volunteers who are passionate about our heritage, who will be willing to learn all about the Pilgrim families, who they were, where they were from, Immingham’s part in the escape of the Pilgrims in 1608, the Mayflower journey 12 years later and, most importantly, be happy to talk enthusiastically to visitors and residents so that they too can learn about this important story.
The volunteer programme will include an exciting trip out to some of the locations that the Pilgrims lived and worshipped before they fled England for Holland, so that you can understand their story.
There’s an informal drop in session next week for those who are interested to find out more about this exciting opportunity. If you’re interested please pop along between 3pm and 6pm on Wednesday 19th June at Immingham Museum.
