Skip It is coming back to Immingham

Following on from the first Skip It of 2019, Skip It will be returning to Immingham for the second date of the year.

Bins for recycling, household waste and a whole host of other items will be available on site.

The first event took place in Grimsby, and saw people drop off a range of items, including gardening equipment, electronics and items of furniture.

The next event will be held on Wednesday 22 May, Reed Mere Estate, Hadleigh Road, Immingham, DN40 1HQ from 8:30am to 3pm.

Local community groups and officers from a whole host of LHP services will be present to offer advice and answer questions.

Councillor Stewart Swinburn, cabinet member for Environment said:

I’m really glad Skip It is back, it’s a great opportunity to have a good clear out, and encourages people to keep their community tidy. I’m particularly happy it’s returning to Immingham, as it’s not always easy for people to make it to sites elsewhere – especially with bulky items to dispose of. Our thanks go to LHP for hosting these events and to our waste management contractor NEWLINCS for their continued support.

Skip It started in the summer of 2018 as a new way to help people get rid of their household junk for free. Pop-up recycling points were set up for a day in each of the area’s 15 wards.

People brought everything from mattresses and washing machines to garden clippings and fence panels – most rubbish was recycled or sent to the energy from waste plant to generate electricity.

Skip It also gave people the chance to tidy up their neighbourhoods by clearing rubbish from areas where it was causing a nuisance.

Some items left at Skip It will be sold at the Grimsby Community Recycling Centre Bring and Buy sales. Proceeds go to charities and good causes.

Visitors to the collection points must follow the site instructions and listen to instructions from staff to stay safe.

PLEASE NOTE: No trade waste will be taken or other controlled items (including asbestos, soil and rubble, paints, oils, tyres, fuels, hazardous waste, car batteries, plaster board, green waste, builders vehicles, car parts, gas bottles, liquids).
