Local women struggling with the visible side-effects of cancer treatment can benefit from attending Look Good, Feel Better Workshops thanks to a collaboration between International Charity Look Good Feel Better, Care Plus Group and St Andrew’s Hospice.
The workshops, held at St Andrew’s Hospice, are led by trained volunteers and are a chance to meet others in a similar situation, as well as learning useful skills and techniques to manage the side effects of cancer treatment.
An official launch of the Workshops took place at St Andrews Hospice this week, attended by professionals and volunteers.

Collette Dixon, Macmillan Community Nurse from the Living with and Beyond Cancer Team who organises the sessions said:
We have sessions taking place every other month for about 10-12 ladies at a time. Since we started offering the Masterclasses in 2017 we have seen around 150 ladies. We’re proud to have helped bring these sessions to St Andrew’s Hospice as previously women might have had to travel out of town to attend and we’re also looking at offering skincare workshops for men in the near future.
Sarah Addis, Regional Manager for Look Good Feel Better said:
Over the last two years our relationship with the team at St Andrew’s Hospice has grown and we have worked with over 150 women. In the groups women gain confidence and benefit not only from the practical make up and beauty tips given on the day but also the social elements of being with other women in a similar situation and reducing isolation. I’m pleased women are now able to benefit from the Workshops, which are more in-depth than the Masterclasses.
Kristy Masterson, Regional Co-ordinator for Look Good Feel Better and Complimentary Therapist at St Andrew’s Hospice said:
We’ve managed to recruit a 10 strong team of local volunteers to support delivery of the service, who all have qualifications in the beauty and make up industry and we’re always looking for others to join us. I’ve worked at the Hospice for 12 years and it’s really lovely to be able to offer these sessions to enable women to look good and feel better.
