Now social media does not harm teenagers.
Fears that it is harmful to teenagers to spend hours on social media may be misplaced. A major British study says that it only has a small effect on their happiness. Which is the opposite of the opinion of some research and of many parents.
Twelve thousand teenagers took part in the survey. Which has suggested that less than one percent of unhappiness in adolescents can be blamed on using sites like Facebook.
Professor Andrew Przybylski of the University of Oxford the lead co-author of the report said It is not time that parents should be worrying about. Society should not be focusing on the amount of time youngsters spend online.
Research should instead examine if some aspects of online behaviour can have a negative impact on mental health. Like looking at potentially harmful pages or posts.
