The number of police officers in the Lincolnshire force trained to use drones is being doubled, after a successful first year.
The force’s drones have proved so effective they’ve been used in hundreds of operations, according to police bosses.
The extra drone units will be based in Grantham and Skegness to help cover the whole county.
Locating stranded rape victim
Locating a stranded rape victim and catching deer hunters in the act are just two of the standout missions from which Lincolnshire Police has highlighted the real benefit of drones as part of its work in the last two months.
The drones have also been used to capture footage of large fires using the infra red camera.

£30,000 funding
The unit received £30,000 funding for the first year, of which 22,000 was spent on hardware.
Drone Manager at Lincolnshire Police Ed Delderfield is in charge of the unit, which officially launched in October 2017 after six months of hard work.
