Waste dumped after recycling facilities removed overnight.

Recyclers were left baffled after five recycling sites in North East Lincolnshire were removed overnight. Rubbish has already been dumped on some of them.

The council revealed on Tuesday night that it was removing five recycling facilities. By Wednesday morning they had already gone.  Recycling facilities were removed from the Duke of York Gardens, Heritage Centre, Barret’s recreation ground, Poplar Road in Healing. and Morrisons supermarket in Laceby.

Some of them were not used very often but the Duke of York Gardens and Morrisons were well used and were plagued with flytipping. Plans are to remove or relocate a further three sites in the New Year, which include Garibaldi Street car park, Welholme Road, and Great Coates.

North East Lincolnshire council said by removing problem sites that are a drain on resources, will help us to focus our efforts on remaining sites. The sites that were closed are underused or plagued by flytipping sometimes daily staff then have to be taken from regular duties to clean the mess up.

If you find a full recycling bank or have a lot of waste it should be taken to a Community Recycling Centre on Estuary Way, Grimsby, or Queens Road Immingham.
