Anger as war memorials vandalised again
Residents have expressed anger and frustration following a second spate of vandalism involving memorials to soldiers who fought in the First and Second World Wars.
The memorials, located in Keelby and Laceby, have been found bent, broken and scratched.
One person had left a dog poo bag hanging from one of the sculptures.
Speaking via a local community group, Louise Drakes wrote: “Whoever is doing this please stop.
“Desecration of the Tommy’s is disgraceful.
“This is a remembrance of those who fought and died in the 1st and 2nd World Wars as well as other conflicts.
“People donated money towards these projects in memory of their relatives. Many hours go into these projects.”
Ms Drakes said she believes the last of the damage occurred between Saturday evening and Sunday evening.
A number of pots and plants from a tribute to Ukraine were also damaged.
Another upset local said: “This is just so sad and such disgusting behaviour. I hope they get caught soon.”
Ms Drakes has urged anyone with information regarding the incidents to get in touch with Humberside Police by calling 101 and quoting the numbers 179 17.3.2022 and 172 21.3.2022.
