Locals warned not to disturb seals on Cleethorpes beach
Locals have been warned not to interact with seals on Cleethorpes Beach as the resort is set to see another warm weekend.
Seals are regular visitors to the beach, often coming ashore to relax.
Locals are asked to leave them alone as they will make their way back to the sea when they are ready.
The only time people should intervene is if the seals are harmed or in obvious distress.
North East Lincolnshire Council said: “It’s looking like it’s going to be a lovely weekend!
“If you’re at the beach and see any seals having a break or a sunbathe, just leave them alone to do their thing.
“Unless they’re harmed or in obvious distress, just like us, they often want a bit of time out! They’ll make their own way back to the sea, don’t worry.”
Last month a group of pups were spotted on the beach after high tides.
Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue added that if seals or pups are spotted that people do not disclose their location to help keep them calm.
