TransPennine Express lines flooded as Storm Franklin hits

TransPennine Express has warned customers against all but essential travel as the area is hit by Storm Franklin.

According to a spokesperson, train lines between Cleethorpes and Manchester are affected by flooding.

Storm Franklin has already hammered parts of the UK with strong winds and heavy rain resulting in flooding.

A number of travel service providers have warned of “severe disruption.”

TransPennine Express have now introduced a shuttle service between Cleethorpes and Doncaster in an attempt to tackle the issues caused by flooding on the tracks.

Due to the demand, customers are advised to only travel on this route if their journey is essential.

Kathryn O’Brien, Customer Experience Director for TransPennine Express said: “The past few days have been extremely difficult for everyone on the railway as we’ve been hit by three storms which have all caused significant disruption.

“We’d like to thank our customers for their patience as the industry comes together to get services back up and running.”
