Heroic dogs alert owners to Lincolnshire house fire
Just after 2:00am this morning, Friday 11 February, several fire crews attended a Lincolnshire house fire after two dogs alerted their owners to the situation.
Louth Road in North Cockerington was closed off whilst fire crews dealt with the blaze which had taken over the bungalow.
The Lincolnshire house fire was reportedly caused by an electrical fault within the owners’ camper van, which caused severe damage to the bungalow as well as the van.
A spokesperson for Lincs Fire & Rescue said: “Severe fire damage [occurred] to 1 bungalow, 1 van [and] 1 camper van.
“[The house fire was] extinguished using 6 breathing apparatus, 3 main jets, 2 hose reels [and] thermal imaging camera.
“[The blaze was] caused by an electrical fault within [the] camper van.
“Occupiers were alerted to the fire by their dogs barking.
“Crews rescued 2 dogs from the property. No casualties [were] reported.”
Crews from Louth, Mablethorpe, North Somercotes, Alford, Binbrook, Grantham, Market Rasen and Lincoln attended the scene when the Lincolnshire house fire was first reported.
At 8:44am, in a social media update tweet, Lincs Fire & Rescue revealed that the “incident has been scaled down to 2 pumps”.
Fire crews from Horncastle and Spilsby were reportedly in attendance as relief crews by this point, whilst Lincs Emergency Response were providing support to the occupants.
The house fire has since been put out.
