When and where are the Remembrance Day services in Doncaster?

Doncaster is set to host several Remembrance and Armistice Day services this weekend to pay respects to the UK’s lost servicemen and women.

Parades are taking place at numerous locations on Sunday 14 November.

In preparation for Remembrance Day, locals have had the pleasure of viewing several new poppy displays dotted across the borough.

Designed and installed by Doncaster Council’s Street Scene team, the installations ensured that locals did not forget what the town’s (and the nation’s) soldiers have done for the country.

Tributes will be led by the Mayor of Doncaster, Ros Jones, and the Civic Mayor, Councillor Richard Allan Jones on Remembrance Day and Armistice Day.

At the time of this writing, a service is currently being held for Armistice Day outside the Mansion House.

It reportedly features a bugler playing the Last Post and Reveille as well as the traditional Act of Homage.

The service began at 10:50am.

On Remembrance Sunday (November 14), a Service of Remembrance will be held at the war memorial on Bennetthorpe from 10:20am.

A parade will follow, heading to the Minster of St George where a second service will take place at 12:00pm.

Civic Mayor Councillor Richard Allan Jones told Doncaster Council: “The services are an important opportunity for Doncaster to commemorate the servicemen and women who have sacrificed so much in the World Wars and other conflicts.”

Mayor Ros Jones added: “People are welcome to join us in the Service of Remembrance at Doncaster Minster, and the Armistice Day service outside the Mansion House, to pay our respects to those who have made the greatest sacrifice for our freedom.”
