One month to go till the annual Bawtry Christmas event

There is only one month to go before the annual Bawtry Christmas event is back on Sunday 5 December.

Last year’s event was sadly put on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic, so this year’s event aims to be bigger and better than ever before.

The Bawtry Retail Association have been planning the event for many months with the town’s businesses and retailers.

They were also aided by their sponsors, One Call Insurance and the Bawtry Town Council.

The Bawtry Christmas event is due to start at 12:00pm and end at 6:00pm, providing plenty of time to explore the fairground – featuring an impressive big wheel – as well as numerous craft and gift stalls, live entertainment, animals from Equine Dreams of Bawtry, a nativity display at St Nicholas Church and the wonderful Womacks of Bawtry Christmas Window display.

Children will also have the chance to meet GP Princesses and Father Christmas.

On their website, Chair of the Bawtry Retail Association Ross Jarvie said: “It was really important to us all that we brought back our annual Christmas event and see the festive magic and sparkle of Christmas return for everyone whether that was seeing Santa, enjoying a fairground ride, or simply wandering the streets and enjoying a bite to eat or a drink with friends.

“It’s been great to see so many businesses get on board and other local partners become involved to make it a day to remember.”

“All our businesses are looking forward to the entire festive period, but this day holds a special place in all our hearts,” said Ross. “It’s always a fantastic festive atmosphere and we shall look forward to welcoming residents and visitors alike.”

Guests will also be able to stay overnight at Bawtry’s 4-star hotel, The Crown Hotel, which will be offering discounts when ‘Bawtry Christmas Time’ is quoted when booking a room.

Rosettes will also be awarded for the best dressed stalls in memory of Jackie Strickland, an original member of the Bawtry Christmas Event steering group.

Parking will be available at Hudson’s Yard and the Memorial Sports Ground.
