Festival of Light to return to Doncaster this November

On Thursday 25 November to Sunday 28 November, the Doncaster Minster will be seeing the return of Doncaster’s Festival of Light.

Right Up Our Street is presenting the artwork for this year’s event.

They are an Arts Council Creative People and Place project which encourages people to get involved with art and culture in Doncaster.

For this year’s event, they are presenting ‘The Crossing Place’ by Heinrich and Palmer, a display of light installations inspired by Doncaster’s heritage collection and natural history.

The artworks featured will all be made of spectacular lights and colours, inspired by the Minster itself.

An adaption of the work can also be experienced at Danum Gallery, Library and Museum alongside their taxidermy collection from Thursday 25 November till Friday 14 January 2022.

The event aims to celebrate the town’s diversity by bringing communities together in one place to experience art and culture at its finest.

In 2018, Doncaster’s Festival of Light featured Luke Jerram’s ‘Museum of the Moon’.

Last year, the festival unfortunately had to be put on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The event is being supported by Doncaster Council and will be hosted by the Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust.

Animal conservation work has also been carried out by Yorkshire Wildlife Park and Potteric Carr.

The huge light installations are fit for all the family to witness and enjoy.

To stay protected from Covid-19, you will have to purchase a free ticket to gain entry to the event.
