A clinical trial is a type of research that tests medical treatments or procedures.
Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust took to social media saying ‘congratulations to the Research Team at Scunthorpe for recruiting the very first patient in the country into the HEAL-COVID study.
“This is a randomised trial looking at the longer-term complications associated with COVID-19, and assessing several different treatment options that may be of benefit in reducing or preventing those complications.

The Indian variant of coronavirus has been recorded in all neighbouring boroughs of North East Lincolnshire for the first time.

A spokesperson for Public Health England, said: “We are well prepared to deal with any variants of concern found in our area. If there are any variants of concern and variants under investigation here, they will have contact tracing carried out, and as with anyone testing positive for Covid-19, need to self-isolate.
“Our public health advice remains the same, whatever variant of Covid-19 . Continue with the basics of Hands, Face, Space and Fresh Air – especially meeting people outside rather than inside, to help to protect against all Covid-19 variants.
