Grimsby’s dismembered foot still unidentified
Despite an extensive search and investigation, the identity of the person whose dismembered foot was found on the outskirts of Grimsby is still unknown.
The foot was discovered by a woman walking her dog along the Peaks Parkway Path in New Waltham more than a year ago, on April 25 2019.
It has been identified as human, and as belonging to a female over the age of 16, who is thought to be around 5ft 2in tall.
Currently, very few other details are known.
A spokesperson for Humberside Police confirmed that the force is working with the National Crime Agency in order to identify who the foot belonged to.
The force said it looked at “every piece of information” and asked anyone who could help to get in touch.
Extensive searches had been carried out after the foot was found near the old railway track at Louth Road, New Waltham.
Police added that missing person lists across Europe have also been examined to see if the profile of the foot fits anyone reported missing.
Speaking at the time of the incident in 2019, Detective Chief Inspector Al Curtis said pathologists believed the foot had been dismembered in the year before it was found.
This was followed by speculation that the foot might have been dismembered much earlier than initially thought, and subsequently unearthed by an animal.
These claims remain unconfirmed.
Discussing the ongoing investigation, Detective Inspector Troake added:
“Numerous enquiries are being carried out as part of the investigation to determine what events may have occurred prior to this incident, how the body part came to be on the path and also the length of time it may have been in situ in the area.”
