Banned drink driver caused the death of man.
A driver who knocked over and killed Mark Batty in a horrific accident on Scartho Road had been drink driving. He had been drinking all night and after he had a row with his girlfriend he took her car despite him having been banned from driving.
Anton Watson 31, has admitted causing 41-year-old Mark’s death at Grimsby Crown Court and it is believed he will face a lengthy prison sentence. He admitted driving while banned, failing to stop after an accident, failing to provide a breath specimen and having no insurance.
At the time of the accident, Mark was walking along Scartho Road when he was hit by Anton Watson, crash investigators estimated the speed of the vehicle to be between 46mph and 62mph.
Mark’s funeral will be held at St John and Stephen’s Church, Grimsby at noon tomorrow followed by interment at Scartho cemetery.
