Just three seconds.
Just three seconds is all it took for a gang of burglars to break-into homes in Humberston’s Renaissance Park.
Residents have been targeted by hi-tech thieves who broke into their homes. Four burglaries were reported, in two of the burglaries the family was asleep upstairs. Thieves broke in within seconds.
The thieves stole a black Landrover Defender with a 59 plate and also car keys, i pads and laptops.
It is believed that CCTV image shows a silver Subaru and a person acting suspiciously. There was also an attempted break-in on Queen Elizabeth Road Humberston and two attempted break-ins on houses in the Chichester Road area.
Humberside Police confirmed the reports of car theft in Humberston between 6.30pm on Thursday and 8am the following morning.
Humberside Police are seeing more burglary related thefts in and around North East Lincolnshire.
Police offered the following advice. Never leave your car keys on show through a window or door when you are not using them. Do not leave them in locks, on a hallway table or shelf and never in reach of a letterbox or cat flap.
Getting a professionally-fitted car alarm and, or immobiliser is recommenced.
Residents should consider fitting a house alarm, motion sensors outside lights, and if possible CCTV to cover the property including the back garden.
If you have two vehicles and one is of less value than the other think about blocking the more expensive car in.
Anyone who see anything suspicious, especially people who are not recognised, hanging around at night is urged to call Humberside Police on 101 or 999 in an emergency.
