Man due in court following break-in at town optician

A homeless Grimsby man is due to appear before Grimsby Magistrates Court today (Thursday, June 20), charged with breaking into an optician’s in the town.

Mark Gibson, 37, of no fixed abode, is charged with stealing glasses to the value of £600 on Tuesday, June 18.

The arrest came as part of police continued crack down on commercial burglaries in North East Lincolnshire.

Detective Constable Laura Wilson said: “We know that when you’re running a business you put your heart and soul into it, so someone breaking-in can have a huge impact on you and your livelihood.

“That’s why we’re committed to tracking down those who commit these type of offences and putting them before the courts.”
